A recent study by Yale University School of Forestry & Environmental Studies takes an in-depth look into the “who and why” of Connecticut private land ownership. The study entitled “Understanding Connecticut Woodland Owners” is a first-of-its-kind analysis of the attitude, values, and challenges of people who own woodlands in Connecticut. The report concludes that private landowner management and ownership has enormous influence on the quality and extent of Connecticut forests – as families own half of the approximately 1.8 million acres of woodlands in our state.
