LTA Standards and Practices Workshop
The Connecticut Land Conservation Council is pleased to offer a Standards and Practices Curriculum course from the Land Trust Alliance:
WHAT: Caring for Land Trust Properties.
So how can you be a good guest and care for the land you have been entrusted with? Learn how to manage properties more effectively. The course discusses the different types of land management responsibilities, how to create management plans and how to select the right approach for your land trust. Learn how to create policies for developing and implementing management plans and monitoring properties in your care.
This workshop will cover Practices 8G, 12C, 12D and 12E.
WHEN: Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 9am - 4pm.
WHERE: Room 210 Fisk Hall, Wesleyan University, Middletown CT.
Fisk Hall is located on the corner of High Street and College Street. Parking is directly behind the building. Directions to Fisk Hall.
PRESENTER: Paul Doscher, Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.
Paul Doscher is the Vice President for Land Conservation at the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, the nation's third oldest land trust. The Forest Society owns more than 165 properties ranging in size from 4 acres to 4,000 acres. Its first property was acquired in 1911. Paul oversees the land and easement acquisition and easement stewardship programs of the Forest Society having also supervised the fee land management program in the past. He is also a conservation easement land owner, Tree Farmer and operator of a small "choose and cut" Christmas Tree farm in Weare, NH. He holds Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Environmental Science degrees from Miami University (Ohio), and is a former professor of environmental science at New England College.
COST: $45 members/$55 non-members per person (includes food and materials).
RSVP: Registration deadline is November 9, 2009. Space is limited. Registrations received after 11/03/09 will not get a copy of the student guide and will need to be ordered separately.
